Yes, it has been a couple of months since I posted anything.
I thought about. I really did. But when it came right down to writing anything, I just didn't want to.
Summer is winding down now. It is the last week of August. It is a cliche, I know, but I just don't know why time flies the way it does. It really seems like summer just started.
I think part of it is because last summer seemed like a really nice summer. Granted....COVID was around, but I think that was what, in an odd way, made it special.
For us, there was more family time, not that we didn't have it this current summer, but it was more relaxed. Last summer was fun with impromptu dinners in the Party Barn, sitting in the gazebo chatting until dark, the kids playing on the trampoline and catching lightning bugs, more relaxed time at home. This summer was just busy once again. Meetings to attend. Appointments with the doctor, dentist, hair stylist, nail tech. More mobility NO dinners in the Party Barn. In fact the tables aren't even set up. The refrigerator is still stocked with what was in it in May.
What happened?
Well, there was the Waco trip in early June.
Two weeks later we went to Orlando for the re-scheduled Disney Trip.
Fourth of July was a week after that.
Two county fairs were in the next two weeks - Clinton County for Cooper and Carroll County for Landon and Tessa.
Then is was 'two weeks to Back to School' and summer was over. Done.
A bright spot was for me to keep telling myself that we (meaning Gary and I) still had the entire month of August to enjoy summer time activities and fun---and here it is, August 25. One more weekend and it will be September, then Labor Day, then cooler temps and shorter days.
Already the leaves are beginning to fall. I noticed last week that one soybean field had started to 'turn' a little, and sure enough, the 'it's time for the beans to turn to brown' memo went out. We noticed so many fields that have spots of stalks turning brown in the middle or along the edges of those beautiful green soybean fields. Ears of corn are beginning to be brown and drop. The bottoms of the stalks are starting to fire. Soon we will be seeing and hearing combines in the fields as the harvest begins. I remember the first year we lived in this house...the corn was harvested by Labor Day weekend and that is only about 10 days away.
I'll try to write more regularly and more frequently. I have several topics for discussion so that should keep me busy with the keyboard.
Besides that...since very few people even read what I write, I would be very surprised if anyone even noticed that I hadn't been posting or even notices that I started again!
