Just singin' a song...

Since Hilary was stuck at a doctor's appointment, I was elected to pick up Tessa from pre-school in Flora today.  Fortunately I had ridden with them to drop her off in the morning, so I knew where to go, and fortunately I ran into Rachel as I was walking into the building and she guided me through the pick-up process.

When we were in the Escape and heading west back to Pyrmont, we continued to listen to the CD i have been playing repeatedly since June. Well,  repeatedly when *I* was driving.  SiriusXM on the 60s or 70s station is usually the norm when Gary is behind the wheel.

Anyway....I can hear Tessa in the back seat saying "Turn it up, Mamaw!" which I did--several times.

I would prompt her as to the next lines, the repeated phrases, and as much as I could see, she was singing along with the songs.

At one point I turned down the music and asked her if she knew who we were listening to.  Her answer?  Those brothers.  Ahh...correct!  The Ball Brothers.  They are my favorite, my very favorite, Christian music group.  I stumbled upon their music a year or so ago on FB when someone shared on of their YouTube videos. I love harmony, and I love old hymns, and I enjoy singing along, and their music was all of that --full of harmony, old standards in new arrangements and very sing-along-able.

In fact we selected "I Shall Know Him" to be played at Mom's funeral in May.  And Hilary and I attended a concert in Kentland in June, met the members of the group, and even had our pictures taken with them.  Does that make us 'groupies'?  I don't know.  It makes me really like their music even more!  Plus we are FB friends with two of the guys as well!

So Tessa and I are singing away on the 15-20 minutes drive back to the house.  During one of my favorites, I was slapping my leg as I was driving and singing along with the song.  She was clapping in the back seat and singing her heart out also.

When we pulled in the drive and I unfastened the clips on her carseat, she said she really liked singing those brother songs, especially the last one.  "Happy Weirdos"

Stop.  What?  "Happy WEIRDOS"?????????

I had to laugh.  With every phrase including the two words "Happy Rhythm" she was inserting "Happy Weirdos."

She even told Mommy and Papaw about it..."Mamaw and I listened to those brothers and we sang along and the last song we sang was 'Happy Weirdos'"

You know, there are worse things.  We spent some quality time together, just the two of us, cranking up the volume (not too loud) in the Escape and singing our hearts out.  We had fun. We were laughing.  We were praising the Lord.

And maybe if anyone had seen us or heard us, her title might have been appropriate!  Who knows!

Ball Brothers - Happy Rhythm
