An Open Door
It's a little cooler today.
Temps are in the 70s instead of the mid to high 80s as they have been in recent days.
It is the beginning of October, so it should be cooler, right?
Sometimes Mother Nature doesn't pay attention to the calendar.
Anyway.....I decided to clean part of the house today. Gary was outside mowing what he didn't finish yesteday. I decided to open the front door.
Now I happen to like open windows and open doors. I especially like to open the front door.
Why? Because there is a nice breeze that wafts through the house.
Because there is sunlight which trickles through the glass windows on the door.
Because that aforementioned breeze adds some freshness to the stale air that has been circulating through the house all summer.
The window in the upstairs bathroom is open also. I tend to open it each morning after my shower, mainly to let out the steam and to add some freshness to the air.
So why does Gary grumble and complain so much about an open door or an open window?
He will shut the bathroom window and say that the air conditioning is running and we aren't cooling the outdoors.
He will shut the front door and say that the AC is running and we need to keep the cool air inside.
And today, even though it is cool outside, he was still grumbling because the front door was open.
Funny that it bothers him so much, he who grew up in the country and lived most of his life without AC and with open windows and doors.
Fall is here, and even though the temps have been unseasonably warm recently, the days of temps in the 50s are fast approaching. Soon the furnace will be running, and the doors and windows will be shut up tight to prevent any of the precious waves of heat from escaping.
So enjoy it now. Open the windows. Crack open the doors. Let the sunshine in. Feel the breezes waft through the house.
Welcome, Fall! I will embrace you----even if Gary won't!
