The Illustrated Words of Jesus for Woman

I met Rhonda through a small FB group through Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies.  We were both in a group whose leader was not strong, and it seemed like Rhonda and I were participating and asking questions and generating discussion more than she was.  Eventually we decided just to form our own group and participate in the study but to discuss with just each other and a couple of others who we invited to join us.

Rhonda lives in San Antonio so we have never met.  But we have communicated with each other so much, sharing our life experiences, our joys, our concerns, our worries, our life events, that we seem to know each other and we have become good friends.  Kinda like 21st Century adult pen pals!  Probably no one even remembers what those are---and I am sure that concept would be foreign or out of the dark ages for my grandchildren.

Anyway...Rhonda posted on FB around the time of the New Year a picture of the book The Illustrated Words of Jesus for Women.  It looked interesting to me, so I asked about it.  I checked it out on Amazon, then ordered my own copy.

Next we decided to continue our FB secret group so that we could discuss the daily entries.  It seems like I am participating more than Rhonda is, but that is understandable because she works and I don't, so my 'free' time is more than hers is.

I like the book.  The verses are meanaingful and most of them are familiar in that I have studied them previously.  But what I like are these two things - the commentary, and the coloring!  The commentary has been giving me a different perspective, a different way of looking at the verse and applying it to my life.  I like the spot at the bottom of the page for notes, or if there is no space to write, I always find myself underlining or highlighting many passages.

I also like the coloring.  I picked up a couple of packs of colored pencils, some for Tessa and some for me for our Christmas stockings, and I really like using those.  Shelby and Caleb left two packs of gel pens for coloring on Christmas Eve for the kids to use so those are coming in handy.  The coloring is relaxing and I like interpreting the pictures to make them mine, if that makes sense.

The book and a pack of colored pencils will be tucked into my suitcase for the trip to Florida.  I have tried to get ahead on the devotional posts on our FB page so I can just add in my comments next week.

Daily devotions - easy to start at the beginning of the year.  Hard to keep up with as the days roll along.  But I am determined, and I will make this work for me.
