Our Family Is Very Blessed!
Yesterday was the biggest party we have had in the Party Barn so far! It was Owen's 4th Birthday/Adoption Party.
The Party Barn definitely earned its title yesterday. Tables were set up. Food was prepared. Outdoor activities were planned. People arrived. Kids played. Food was eaten. Games were played. All in all---a great time.
But the most impressive thing for me was----this little boy is very loved.
Hilary and Blaine planned an Adoption Party for each one of their children.
Landon's party was just 9 months after he arrived in their family. The crowd was small, but it included a few close friends and many family members. What was impressive about that group was that he had five great-grandparents attending his party. Both Grampy and Grammy Siemens, Grandpa Yaggie. Gigi Walker, and Grandma Marge. Not many young ones have that many great-grandparents when they are born. He was very lucky. The party was also in their house southwest of West Point. His adoption was finalized in Fountain County.
Tessa's party was a few years later and she was much older than Landon. More people attended her adoption hearing at the Carroll County courthouse. Since their circle of friends had grown considerably, more people attended the adoption party which was soon after the official ceremony. Much time and effort went into the event, and the after effects of having so many people in and out of their house took some time to erase and remedy. (Nice way of saying that clean house was a mess and took a while to clean up).
Owen's official adoption hearing was sudden. There had been a long wait from the termination of parental rights and all of the appeals to just waiting and waiting...and waiting more. Finally when Landon asked Santa for his little brother to be adopted and Hilary conveyed that message to the case worker, the wheels began to move and his adoption was on December 20, 2018. However with the holidays, school, the winter months, baseball, 4-H, and a myriad of other activities, no party had been planned.
When Hilary and Blaine asked if they could use the Party Barn for the event, thus eliminating the ned for people to be in and out of their house and giving them more room for parking, serving food and seating, we happily agreed because, after all, that is one of the reasons we moved and why this place was perfect for our needs.
Yesterday was perfect. Perfect weather. Nice combination of friends and family. Plenty of good food. Great conversation. Sno-cones-one of Owen's favorites! Kids playing games in the yard and swinging on the tree swing. People sitting in the gazebo! Petting the goats. Tours of the house. Bonfire. Shang'hai rummy with family at the end of the day. Lots of Toy Story toys and gifts for Owen.
Just perfect.
But the best thing is this ---Owen Lee is our grandson. Now and forever. Always has been, but it is official, really official now. He is part of the Yaggie family. He will always be our third grandson, and our fourth grandchild.
We love him so much.
Our family is very blessed.
